If you鈥檝e ever seen The Carol Burnett Show鈥攚hether you watched it back when it aired from the late 60s to the late 70s or saw it years later in reruns鈥攜ou know you鈥檝e been in the presence of seriously good comedy. Decades later, the jokes still hit, proving that truly funny material鈥攍ike great literature鈥攈as a timeless quality to it. It鈥檚 not surprising that the show won 25 prime-time Emmy awards during its 11-year run and made Time magazine鈥檚 list of the 100 Best TV Shows of All Time.
And now, the very best of all that comic zaniness is coming to 爆料公社网页版, courtesy of the students of the TheatreXpress program, on April 17鈥19 at The Studio Theatre on campus.
鈥淐arol Burnett was a pioneer in televised sketch comedy, and her company of players became famous for their group chemistry. This show is helping introduce a new generation to The Carol Burnett Show,鈥 said Professor David Legore, chair of the university鈥檚 Department of Dramatic Media. 鈥淚t鈥檚 directed and produced by our student organization TheatreXpress, a group that is learning about these classic sketches for the first time. It also includes members of the surrounding community who fondly remember the original show. It鈥檚 been fun to see this blending of cohorts as they collaborate across eras.鈥
